Hadley’s Park

The Danielson clan discovered another amazing park yesterday, this time about 20 minutes from our home. The park is technically called the Falls Road Park but most people know it as Hadley’s Park. Hadley was a girl (now a woman) with cerebral palsy who utilizes a wheelchair. Hadley’s mom “had a dream to create a special playground where both her daughters could play together with children of all capabilities.” The playground at this park has fantastic flat rubberized flooring and ramps everywhere. It makes you wonder why all parks aren’t accessible to kids of different abilities!?!

Both boys LOVED this park. Caleb must have used his walker (with flames still attached from Halloween) for well over an hour. He would chase us, “knock” us down, work hard to go up the ramp and lift his feet to cruise down the ramp. He did eventually get tired of walking, so then he started to explore the underneath of the playground with his sidekick. He just had a huge goofy grin the entire time! At most parks, Caleb is limited in what aspects of a playground he can enjoy. He loves the swings and the slide but this time he was able to take advantage of so much more!

I’m so happy we found this awesome place that both of our boys enjoy so much! I just hope Hadley’s mom realizes that so many children will be enjoying this park for decades to come and for that we are so grateful!

I'm a working mom of three fantastic boys: Caleb, Wyatt and Parker. My husband, Shane, and I live in the Washington DC suburbs where we enjoy playgrounds, pools and never getting to sleep in. This blog is a journal of our day-to-day lives as well as a chronicle of Caleb's progress after a recent spinal surgery to alleviate the effects of his cerebral palsy.

wow, that is quite the dairy farm! I was born on a farm so I appreciate this….Kids LOVE to ride on tractors and look at cows…so nice to see the boys enjoying cousins! wonderful!

      • Actually this is a feed lot, so those cows don’t produce milk but the boys loved hearing them “MOO” and commented on how some of the cows had “boogies” coming out of their noses! They say the funniest stuff!

I love to hear from you! Leave a comment!
